Alvin Ganny | Perth Photographers | Perth Band Photographer | Perth Portrait Photography

Hey there it’s Sal! Welcome back ! Hope you enjoyed a good week so far. Sorry I’ve been slacking off my blogging. Apparently I was having a heart condition that doctors even told me I had to stop exercising for 6 weeks. THe diagnosis was SVT or just simply palpitations of the heart. A good friend of mine actually gave me a good cure for it. Both of us were big personal development fans of a book called The Secret! Basically all I had to do was keep on exercising and not stop or phase it out. Because it was the Christmas break I took a break from working out too long that my heart had jump start itself….BUt I’m all good now and back at doing what I love..working out, blogging and of course shredding on my guitar!!!
Enough about me. Here’s a story about a good mate of mine who has helped me shoot a lot of kickass photos of me rocking out on my guitar. Without wasting time..here’s Alvin Ganny a Perth Photographer who takes ‘Rocking’ kickass photos\m/
About Myself

I was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. Came to Perth, Australia in 1997 to study, fell in love with it and been living here ever since.
I’m a full time graphic artist for a printing company called Allmark, and a part time photographer.
I was born with music-blood running down my vein. My father was a local muso back in the 70′s. I was introduced with music at a very young age. My dream was to be a guitarist playing in a big stadium (haha!).
How were you before

I started playing music at the early age of was a musician for a long time, guitarist and vocalist for several (unknown) bands. Striving for success and I never did.
What made you decide to pursue your passion

Now skip to the good part. One Sunday morning I went to my local Church here in Perth, WA. I was sitting there and listening to Ken Duncan (famous Australians Landscape Photographer) who happened to be the guest speaker at the time.
He came and showed some of his works, and i spoke to myself, ‘hey! i can do this too’. So, i bought a rather cheapie Canon dslr (1100D) and i asked a few mates if i can shoot at their gigs. I wanna give a shout out to my mate Trevor Jalla and Wayne Antioch for letting me shot at their gigs!
My very first live gig shooting! it aint bad, but surely not good either :p
What steps did you take to be where you are now

After doing some photos, i knew that doing photos the one i wanna do and it gave me more satisfaction than i ever had in music. But, i will always love music. In fact, I inherit it to my 2 boys! They will continue my music journey
I always keep educating myself and learn from more senior photographers than me. Keep absorbing their knowledge and be a better a photographer.
Dealing with problems you had

Problems may arise from time to time. And you just gotta get through it. Problems give warning for us in the future so we won’t fall in the same pit.
Where are you now

I’m focusing on wedding photography and family portrait photography. But, i still do live-gig photography from time to time.
Michelle from Michelle Dean Photography once told me, ‘don’t do wedding photography only because of the money, but do it because you love photography and do it because it’s your passion’. That statement didn’t do anything for me at the time, but i TOTALLY get it now! If you do not have the passion for wedding photography or any kind of photography why doing it at all?
